Governance

The Education Act, 1995, states that there are three legal and equal educational entities in Saskatchewan: the Public School Systems, the Separate School Systems and the Conseil des écoles fransaskoises (CÉF). The CÉF administers nine Francophone education areas regrouping a total of fifteen Fransaskois schools. Each area is defined by geographic boundaries within which right holder parents may exercise their right to have their children educated at a Fransaskois school, in accordance with the Saskatchewan Education Act and Section 23 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

The Board of Education (Conseil scolaire fransaskois or CSF) consists of nine trustees elected within the Francophone education areas. Each member represents one education region of the province. The CSF governs the education issues of the CÉF in the same way as do the Anglophone Boards of Education.
